Frequently-Asked Questions : Transferring Funds
Transferring funds to an account at another financial institution
If you would like to transfer funds from your account to an account at another financial institution, you can use the “Transfers” feature to complete the task. Select the “Classic” tab, then select “Add an external account” and follow the steps. You will need to know the routing and account number of the financial institution you wish to add. If you do not know the routing number for the account you are transferring adding, you will need to contact the other financial institution. Many financial institutions post their routing number on their website.
Next, enter the account number in the “Account Number” field. You will be prompted to enter the account number again in the “Confirm Account Number” field. This ensures that you enter the account number correctly.
After adding the new routing and account number, you will be asked to verify your identity through text, email or a phone call. As a security measure, you cannot transfer funds to or from this account until it has been confirmed.
Two deposit transactions will be sent to the external account which may take up to three business days to appear in the transaction history. Once the two deposit transactions appear, go to “Settings” and click on the “Accounts” tab to confirm the external account. Once the transaction amounts are confirmed, you will be able to start making transfers to the new account using your Goldenwest banking app.
