Mortgage Rates Dip
March 4, 2016
If you’re enjoying lower gas prices, then you’ll be thrilled at what you could be saving on your mortgage with the recent drop in rates. In the past few weeks, home loan rates have taken an unexpected dip which has led to an increase in home purchases and mortgage refinances.
Recently, I became acquainted with a couple who were in the market for a new home. They were pre-approved by their lender and eager to make an offer. During our conversation, they told me the mortgage rate and closing costs their mortgage broker had quoted them.
I asked them if it was okay for Shauna Muirbrook, our Vice President of Mortgages, to run the numbers. In the end, Shauna provided them with a 30-year mortgage rate that was one-percent lower than they had been quoted by their broker, along with closing costs reduced by $3,000. Needless to say, they were thrilled and purchased the home with a Goldenwest mortgage.
One of the best parts of my job is helping members save money. That’s why I’m so excited the Credit Union is now offering insurance policies for homes, autos and RVs. Not only can we save you money with reduced loan rates and fees, but in most cases we can provide you with lower premiums on your insurance. All of our Goldenwest branches have licensed insurance agents to assist you, so stop by any location for a free, no-hassle quote.
It’s March, which means we’re getting ready for the 16th Annual Goldenwest 5K For Schools. I invite you to join with me on March 19th to help raise money in support of 10 local schools as well as the Weber School Foundation. You can register for the 5K on our website.
Congratulations to Casandra Anderson in our Training Department who was named our employee of the month. She is an important member of the team that trains our new tellers and develops our existing staff in the new accounts position. We appreciate all she does to expand the knowledge base and service skills of our employees.
Finally, I’m excited to announce our new, responsive-designed website will launch later this month. We have completely transformed the website content, graphics and navigation to allow for a more user-friendly online and mobile experience. As always, I welcome your comments on my blog posts and invite you to follow me on Twitter @GoldenwestCUCEO.
